License Usage

The License Usage interface enables real-time reporting and visualization of license consumption data collected from various supported license managers and/or data sources. It provides users with up-to-date insights into license availability, user trends, and denials, helping organizations optimize license allocations and ensure compliance across their software environment.

Parts of the License Usage Page

The License Usage page is a web-based reporting tool that displays a real-time monitoring interface of all the collected data from supported license managers and/or data sources. It has four (4) parts:

a. Filtering Options - This allows users to refine data presented in the Vendor License View. There are three (3) filtering options available: Vendor License, Application Name, and User. Each filter includes a dropdown selector with checkboxes for multi-selection and a search input field for quick access to specific entries.

b. Vendor License View - This displays either a grid or list view of vendor licenses with their system indicators, including expiring license warning, number of distinct users, and server status.

c. Global Display Options - This allows you to customize how license and feature data are displayed within the interface. Use the options below to tailor the view according to your needs:

  • Use Vendor License Label - Toggle to display vendor-specific identifiers.

  • Use Feature Label - Toggle to display feature names along with the license data.

  • Use Token Cost - Toggle to display token cost associated with each license.

  • Use Level 2 Percentage - Toggle to display the Level 2 percentage for advanced usage breakdowns.

  • Show Feature Version - Toggle to display the version information of each feature.

  • License Status - This allows you to categorize and view licenses based on their current validity. The available status indicators include:

    • All Valid - Indicates valid licenses

    • Expiring within 30 days - Indicates licenses nearing expiration

    • Expired - Indicates expired licenses

  • License Server Status - This allows you to categorize and view license servers based on their current availability. The available status indicators include: Up or Down.

d. View Options - This allows you to switch between grid and list views.

Parts of the Vendor License Overview

a. Vendor License Information - This displays the details about the vendor license, including the name of the vendor license, server status, license file path, and the collection time. On the right side, you’ll find the Distinct Features and Distinct Users modals, which you can click to view more detailed data.

b. Vendor License Data - This displays the information about the license usage. The table information includes the following columns: Application Name, License Model, Total Licenses, Available, Online, and Usage. The details of any one of the titles may be sorted in ascending or descending order.

c. User List Display - This displays the information about the users. The table of information includes the following columns: User Name, Host, Usage Time, and In Use status. The details of any one of the titles may be sorted in ascending or descending order.

d. Export All Data - This allows you to export all the data into CSV format. Once clicked, data will automatically be downloaded.

e. Reload - This button allows you to refresh the data table.

f. Search - This allows you to search or filter through the data table.

g. Show/Hide Columns - This button allows you to customize visible columns.

h. Toggle Full Screen - This button allows you to maximize the viewing area.

Quick Charts

This section displays charts showing real-time data. Click the chart icon beside the Application Name to generate a quick chart for the selected user. There are two (2) tabs you can choose from: Application-Level and User-Level.

  1. Application-Level Charts - Application-Level Charts show how often application is used and how many people are using it. It also displays the highest number of user using the application at the same time. This is helpful when you want to understand which applications are most used and if you need more or fewer licenses.

    Application-Level Charts provide a summary of overall application usage across the environment. It includes metrics such as:

    • Utilization Trend - A license usage trend report that includes the license denials of a selected product/feature for a specified period.

    • License Efficiency - A report on efficient license use. It shows the utilization on max in use and max available licenses on specific percentiles.

    • License Heatmap - A graphical presentation of the monthly and weekly license usage reports (max or average in use) in colors of varying intensities. This report helps organizations with offices in different zones monitor license usage.

  2. User-Level Charts - User-Level Charts show which user used an application and how long each user used it. This type of chart is helpful when you want to track individual usage, monitor activity, or review usage patterns for specific users.

    • Top 10 User – Max In Use - A graphical presentation of users with highest concurrent license usage.
