Version 11 Release Information

Product: Open iT Software

Release Date: 2025-July-11

Overview

Version 11 marks a major milestone for the Open iT software, delivering a comprehensive transformation on its architecture, deployment processes, data pipeline, reporting capabilities, and user interface.

This release introduces a containerized, cloud-native foundation, providing a unified server platform, enhanced scalability, improved data handling, streamlined deployment, and strengthened security controls.

New Features

One Release

The Open iT server infrastructure is transitioning from monolithic deployments toward a containerized, cloud-ready architecture. This shift standardizes build, deployment, and runtime processes in cloud environments, reducing complexity and improving consistency in the release pipeline.

This feature offers the following:

  • Fully containerized server deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm
  • Support for PostgreSQL as the primary database backend
  • Continuous integration and deployment for faster and reliable software delivery
  • Auto-scaling and resource management to optimize system performance under varying loads
  • Service discovery that enables dynamic component integration
  • Persistent storage for reliable data retention
  • Secrets management to protect sensitive configuration details
  • Load balancing to evenly distribute system traffic

Data Pipeline Modernization

The data pipeline has been overhauled to introduce greater structure and visibility. Centralizing orchestration and lineage tracking within a single framework enables visualization of end-to-end workflows, dependency tracking, and more consistent issue detection—full benefits will become increasingly evident as operational maturity grows.

Key highlights of this feature include:

  • Orchestrated data workflow with Dagster that introduces:
    • A visual workflow interface that provides a clear view of the pipeline structure and data lineage
    • Failure visibility and debugging with step-level logs and visual failure cues
    • Reusable data assets
    • Dependency-driven execution based on asset materialization, improving reliability compared to rigid scheduling
  • Greater flexibility to onboard new data models from existing assets, removing the need to modify complex SSAS cubes or stored procedures
  • Broad API compatibility that enables seamless integration with customer and partner tools by exposing data through GraphQL, REST, SQL, MDX, or DAX

Unified User Interface and Navigation

Version 11 delivers a fully centralized and streamlined user interface designed to simplify navigation, configuration, and management. Along with this, this release introduces enhanced reporting capabilities built on new technologies.

This feature delivers the following:

  • Unified GUI and Navigation that introduces:
    • Consolidated server interfaces
    • Consolidated License Monitor, delivering a single source of truth for license management and real-time reporting
    • A composable navigation, enabling customizable and flexible navigation across product modules
    • Centralized user access control for managing GUI access, permissions, and data governance across the platform
    • Centralized configuration management via the GUI, eliminating the need for manual configuration file edits or terminal commands
  • New and improved dashboards and alerting system
  • Historical reporting with Apache Superset that introduces:
    • Easy web-based access to the reports and dashboards
    • Interactive dashboards allowing users to explore data dynamically
    • No-code dashboarding capabilities for faster self-service analytics
    • Platform- and database-agnostic design, supporting flexible integration across diverse data sources
  • Single Sign-On for streamlined access
  • Retention of Core functionalities to ensure continuity, minimize user disruption, and preserve familiar workflows

Generative AI

Version 11 introduces a Generative AI-powered assistant that brings conversational, natural language interaction that aims to simplify onboarding and reduce support dependency.

This functionality offers:

  • GenAI-powered chat interface that introduces:
    • Conversational access to the Open iT platform and knowledge base using natural language
    • Ability to answer user queries about the Open iT products, features, onboarding, etc.
    • Report generation with analysis and insights by querying the Cube using natural language
    • Conversation saving and management for continuous workflows and interactions
  • Enhanced Open iT onboarding and reduced support load by enabling users to find answers and insights independently
