# Activating LicenseOptimizer and Other Data Collection Sources

LicenseOptimizer is responsible for configuring data collection and optimization of specific applications' host machine system resources. The following sections will guide you on the required configuration to activate LicenseOptimizer and other data collection sources and optimization.

# Activating LicenseOptimizer

LicenseOptimizer is active by default; make sure it is activated before activating other data collection sources. If it is inactive, follow these instructions to activate:

Open a command prompt with Administrator level privileges.
Go to the bin directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\bin, run the command:
Command Syntax
```
cd $BIN_DIR
```
Example
```
cd C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\bin
```

Once in the directory, activate the monitoring and optimization of licensed applications, run the command:

Command Syntax
openit_oconfinit -u "C:/Program Files/OpeniT/Core/Configuration/module-activation/license_optimizer.root.licenseoptimizer.active=true"

openit_moduleactivator should run to reflect the configuration. By default, this happens every 6 hours, but if you want to activate the LicenseOptimizer immediately, run the command:

openit_moduleactivator

Go to the bin directory, which is by default in /opt/openit/bin, run the command:
Command Syntax

cd $BIN_DIR
```
Example
```
cd /opt/openit/bin
```
Once in the directory, activate the automatic configuration of the license data collection, run the command:

```
./openit_oconfinit -u "/var/opt/openit/etc/module-activation/license_optimizer.root.licenseoptimizer.active=true"
```

openit_moduleactivator should run to reflect the configuration. By default, this happens every 6 hours, but if you want to activate the LicenseOptimizer immediately, run the command:

./openit_moduleactivator

If you want to activate LicenseOptimizer on selected clients, follow the instructions in the Activating Features on Selected Clients section.

# Activating Freeze Monitor

Make sure that LicenseOptimizer is activated.

Freeze monitor is inactive by default; you must activate it to begin the optimization of license usage. Follow these instructions to activate:

Open a command prompt with Administrator level privileges.
Go to the bin directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\bin, run the command:

cd $BIN_DIR
```
Example
```
cd C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\bin
```

Once in the directory, activate the Freeze monitor, run the command:

The WebApp Tracker collection is active by default; make sure it is activated to collect the browser log data. If it is inactive, follow these instructions to activate:

Go to the bin directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\bin, run the command:
