Bentley Vendor License Mapping

Introduction

The vendor license's default format is typically <server_name>;<license_manager>. This mapping file allows you to assign a real name to the vendor license and consolidate multiple vendor licenses under a single vendor license.

Configuring bentley-product-mapping.map

  1. Open bentley-product-mapping.map in the Configuration directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\Configuration.

    Notice that it contains instructions on how to edit the file.

  2. Specify the feature to rename with the following syntax:

    Mapping Syntax
    MAP: <Combine_VendorLicense_name>
    <Bentley_VendorLicense1>
    <Bentley_VendorLicense2>

    Empty lines are allowed — any line beginning with # as the first non-whitespace character is considered a comment. Globbing is also supported, allowing you to use several globbing patterns; however, remember that they are slower than exact matches. To make your mapping files more effective and efficient, refer to Optimizing Rules to Speed Up Rename or Mapping.

    In the mapping file, entries are case-insensitive, meaning that capitalization variations, such as 'BentleyVendor' and 'bentleyvendor', will be recognized as identical. Also, note that leading and trailing spaces are removed from entries.

    Example
    MAP: ProjectWise Explorer Client
    ProjectWise Explorer Client V8i
    ProjectWise Explorer Client 10.00.01.71

    This example sets ProjectWise Explorer Client as the new vendor license name for ProjectWise Explorer Client V8i and ProjectWise Explorer Client 10.00.01.71.

    You can also include custom configurations in this mapping file, such as default mapping, setting date limits on specific mapping entries, or creating nested maps.

  3. Save the changes.
